Our History
La Fiamma was founded by Mr. Salvatore Sciuto in January 1959. In naming the club, Salvatore chose to commemorate the only Italian newspaper in Australia (which was based in Sydney) at the time, bestowing the name La Fiamma, meaning ‘flame’ or ‘beacon’. This name reflected his passion for the game and his vision of what the club should represent in Geraldton, not only for the emerging Italian community but also for the broader promotion of soccer and sport. Although Salvatore was committed to preserving the club’s Italian heritage, symbolised by the Italian shield featured in the centre of the club’s logo, he envisioned La Fiamma as a multicultural community, an identity it proudly maintains today. La Fiamma is an Australian club that takes pride in both its national identity and its cultural roots. Its history is a testament to resilience, community spirit, and a shared love for a sport that inspires young people to strive for excellence and understand the value of dedication and hard work.
